Jesus is the Word of God Made Flesh, who came to earth as Immanuel, God with us. Clearly, Jesus didn’t mean for anyone then or now, to eat of His Flesh or drink His Blood, literally.
In Matthew 4:4; Jesus answered Satan; “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
In this the above passage, Jesus was Quoting from Moses’ chronicling of the Jews, during their Exodus from Egypt.
“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 8:3
This is the Only Way to Grow in The Lord and to become more like Him. Reading the Word daily helps to put your fleshly nature to death, and subsequently Build Up your spirit man. As the Apostle Paul Teaches us in Romans 10:17; “Consequently, Faith comes from hearing the Message, and the Message is heard through the Word about Christ.“
And from the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:26-27 about the Church (All Believers); “26 so that He (Jesus) might Sanctify her, having Cleansed her by the washing of water with The Word, 27 that He might present to Himself the Church in all her Glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be Holy and blameless.”
Okay, so there’s the Answer to the Riddle. >>>Consume The Word of God as Food for our soul and spirit, and let the Holy Spirit be our Teacher, as Jesus Promised in John 14:26; “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will Send in My Name, will Teach you all things and will Remind you of Everything I have Said to you.”
It is So Important for Believers to do this, Because Jesus Says; “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you have no Life in you.“ John 6:53
Here’s Another Riddle – Why are we rarely being taught this Crucial Point by our preachers & Christian book writers? In my humble opinion, that Answer can be found in 2 Peter 2:1-3 and also in Jude, to name just two references to End Times Apostasy in the Church.
2 Peter 2:1-3 >>> The Rise of False Prophets
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned;
3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

A Side Note – Communion is to be done in honor of Jesus Sacrifice on the Cross. Purely as a remembrance. It doesn’t become the Body and Blood of Christ when blessed by a priest – Google transubstantiation.
